Albert Francis Hollingsworth was a United States Navy officer whose known commands fell in the last two years of the Pacific war and the first months of peace. He was a lieutenant (junior grade) on 2 June 1941. On 1 March 1944 he was advanced to temporary lieutenant commander, the rank he held through the end of the war.

On 1 February 1944 he took command of the destroyer Litchfield (DD-336), then still a lieutenant (junior grade). Litchfield was a flush-deck destroyer completed in 1920, an older ship beside the fleet destroyers built for this war. He was promoted to temporary lieutenant commander on 1 March 1944 while he still had her, and he left the ship on 23 December 1944.

On 27 December 1944 he became commanding officer of Helm (DD-388). Helm was a Bagley-class destroyer that had been at Pearl Harbor when the Pacific war began and had served with the fleet in the years since. His command covered the last stretch of the war at sea and ended on 1 September 1945.

On 8 September 1945, as a temporary lieutenant commander, he became captain of Twining (DD-540). The Fletcher-class destroyer had been built at San Francisco and commissioned on 1 December 1943 under Ellis Kerr Wakefield, and she had already served through the Pacific fighting before he came aboard. He commanded her in the early postwar months and remained in the ship until 14 June 1946.
