Algernon Sidney Joyner Jr. had Miami (CL-89) as a commander from 27 February 1947 until the ship was decommissioned on 30 June 1947. She was training reservists on the California coast. The war had been over for more than a year. No biography of him was on a page that could be saved.
NavSource's commanding-officer list for CL-89 gives the name Algernon Sidney Joyner Jr. and the rank of commander. It gives no class, no birth, and no later rank. DANFS's table styles him Cmdr. Algernon S. Joyner Jr.
Not in either list.
His dates are after the fighting. NavSource and the DANFS table agree: 27 February 1947 to 30 June 1947, the day DANFS decommissions the cruiser. He relieved Commander William Baumert Braun. The command lines follow that pair of dates.
Neither list says where he went when the ship went out of commission.
