Commander Charles Carroll Soule, Jr. was a United States Navy officer whose recorded command was the destroyer Allen in 1920. Allen, hull number DD-66, was a Sampson-class destroyer that had entered service in the last year of the First World War and spent that conflict on escort and patrol duty in the Atlantic.

On 10 April 1920 Soule took command of Allen. The ship was then in the reduced, peacetime Navy that followed the armistice. Destroyers of her generation were being sorted between continued service, reserve, and disposal, and a command of a few months was common while the force was reorganized.

He was relieved on 9 October 1920, after just under six months in command. The record of that tour does not credit Allen with a sinking or any other combat action under his orders. His duty was the ordinary work of a destroyer captain in peacetime: keeping the ship fit, training the crew, and carrying out the orders of the destroyer force.

The page rank given for him is commander. In the usage of the time, the word captain on his command line means the officer in command of the ship, and it does not by itself raise him to the rank of captain. He is identified here by the name and the 1920 command of Allen, so that he is not confused with other men of the same surname.

Beyond that tour, this account does not assign him a birthplace, an academy class, a later ship, a decoration, or a date of death. What is fixed is the command itself: Charles Carroll Soule, Jr. commanded Allen from 10 April 1920 until he was relieved on 9 October 1920.
