Cyril Alfred Rumble had the light cruiser Concord (CL-10) from 10 October 1944 to 23 September 1945. She was then with the Northern Pacific Force, and in August and September 1945 she covered the occupation landings at Ominato. The records fetched for him are thin beside the ship's own history.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 9 July 1898 and does not give a place. An obituary of his son, Richard Edwards Rumble, says the son was born in San Diego on 26 October 1922, and names the father as retired Rear Admiral Cyril A. Rumble and the mother as Eileen A. Rumble.

The digitized pages seen here do not give his Naval Academy class or his duty between the wars. Uboat.net lists him as a commander from 1 July 1940 and a captain from 18 June 1942.

NavSource lists him as a commander in command of Concord from 10 October 1944 to 23 September 1945. Uboat.net lists the same dates and calls him a captain in that command. DANFS, which does not name him, has the ship in the northern Pacific through the end of the war, bombarding the Kurils at intervals, and then leaving Adak on 31 August 1945 to cover the landings at Ominato from 8 to 14 September. He was relieved by Captain Carl H. Bushnell on 23 September, before the ship reached Philadelphia to decommission.

His son's obituary calls him a retired rear admiral, and says that both parents were already dead when the son died in 2022. No date of death for Cyril Alfred Rumble was in the pages fetched for this account.
