Duncan Lachlan Johnston commanded Uganda as a commander from early 1944 until 15 August 1944. Uboat.net prints "early 1944" and gives no day. She was under repair at Charleston for that whole stretch. His page lists no events in her.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 3 November 1903. It gives no place and no death.

Uboat.net's rank line is acting sub-lieutenant on 15 January 1924, sub-lieutenant on 15 July 1924, lieutenant on 15 August 1925, lieutenant-commander on 15 August 1933, and commander on 30 June 1941. He was mentioned in despatches on 14 October 1941. The Distinguished Service Cross is dated 19 March 1946. He retired on 25 January 1950.

The Uganda command is the first of two on his page. Geoffrey Mason records that from January to September 1944 she was under repair and refit at the Charleston Navy Yard, and that the transfer to the Royal Canadian Navy had been agreed. Johnston left her on 15 August 1944, when Captain Edmond Rollo Mainguy took command, two months before the Canadian commission on 21 October. Uboat.net then gives him the minesweeper Fairy from 9 October 1944 to 6 November 1944. It says nothing about what he did in her.

The page ends with the retirement on 25 January 1950 and the 1946 decoration. It does not say where he went after Fairy.
