Harumi Kawasaki was a captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy who commanded the light cruiser Kinu from 4 February 1944 to 26 October 1944.

The sources used here do not record his date or place of birth or anything about his family.

He graduated from the Naval Academy at Etajima in its 46th class, and before this command he had been head of the first section of the personnel bureau at Maizuru Naval District.

He took command on 4 February 1944. Kinu escorted heavy cruisers at the start of their Indian Ocean raid, carried troops toward Biak in June, and in October was sent with Aoba and Uranami to carry soldiers to Leyte. On 24 October strafing by carrier aircraft killed 47 of her men. She landed 347 soldiers at Ormoc. On 26 October, in the Visayan Sea, escort-carrier aircraft hit her with three bombs and set her on fire. At 1720 he ordered her abandoned, and transports took off most of her crew. Eighty-three were killed and 51 wounded. She sank at about 1730.

On 6 November 1944 he was appointed to command a guard unit. The Tabular Record numbers it the 36th.
