John Andrew Agnew had HMS Durban from 6 April 1944. Uboat.net lists him as an acting commander and gives no date of relief. She was expended as a blockship on 9 June 1944, while that appointment was still the last one on the list.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 26 September 1903 and his death as 3 May 1977. It gives no place. He was 73.

The rank line begins with acting sub-lieutenant on 15 January 1924. The ship list says acting commander.

Mason has her at Oban on 27 May, on passage with the blockships on 2 June, and sunk on 9 June as part of Gooseberry No. 5 off Ouistreham. The hulk was still in use, and was hit by a German torpedo on 3 August. The command list does not say whether Agnew was still aboard after 9 June. It only fails to name a relief.

He died on 3 May 1977. No later command was on the fetched page.
