Leslie Edward Moncaster commanded Gambia as a commander from 23 June 1943 to 24 August 1943, the middle of her Liverpool refit, between Captain Maurice James Mansergh and Captain Newton James Wallop William-Powlett. Uboat.net lists no other ship for him, and no events under his name.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 26 September 1904 and gives no place and no death.

Uboat.net's rank line is mate on 1 December 1928, lieutenant on 1 August 1931, lieutenant-commander on 1 August 1939, and commander on 31 December 1942. It lists no decoration.

The only command on his page is HMS Gambia, 23 June 1943 to 24 August 1943. Geoffrey Mason records that the ship paid off on 16 June 1943 and was under refit at Liverpool through the summer, the aircraft fittings coming out and radar going in. Moncaster's two months sit inside that refit. The page says no events were found for him.

Uboat.net does not say what he did after William-Powlett relieved him on 24 August 1943.
