Markham Henry Evelegh had HMS Royalist from 25 May 1943, before she was completed, until 21 May 1944. He had her for the long completion, the Home Fleet operation against Tirpitz in April 1944, and the Norway strike that followed.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 4 June 1897 at Watford, Hertfordshire, and his death as 27 November 1976 at Bridport, Dorset. He was 79.

The commander page starts his ranks at acting sub-lieutenant on 15 September 1923. The saved extract does not give the earlier cadet time. He is styled captain on the Royalist list for the whole of this command.

She was completed on 10 September 1943, so the first months were in the builder's hands. The naval-history.net chronology then has the Home Fleet duty of March and April 1944. He was relieved on 21 May 1944, as she was being sent to the Mediterranean for the south of France.

He died at Bridport on 27 November 1976. No appointment after Royalist was on the page that was fetched.
