Midori Matsumura was a captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy who commanded the training cruiser Kashii from 5 March 1944 to 12 January 1945. He was killed when she was sunk.

The sources used here do not record his date or place of birth or anything about his family.

He graduated from the Naval Academy at Etajima in its 48th class, and before this command he had been an instructor at the Naval Academy.

He took command on 5 March 1944, as Kashii was rebuilt for antisubmarine work. From May she led convoy escort groups between Moji, Manila and Singapore. In September 1944 she was flagship of the escort for convoy HI-74, in which Barb sank the escort carrier Unyo. On 12 January 1945, escorting convoy HI-86 off French Indochina as flagship of Rear Admiral Shiro Shibuya, she was attacked by carrier aircraft. A torpedo and two bombs hit her, and the bombs set off her depth charges. She sank stern first. 621 men went down with her and 19 were rescued. He was killed, and so was Shibuya.

He was promoted rear admiral after his death.
