- USS Marblehead (CL-12) Temporary captain from 19 January 1945. The list gives no relief date.
Paul Rowe Coloney had the light cruiser Marblehead (CL-12) from 19 January 1945. Uboat.net ranks him temporary captain and gives no relief date. The ship was decommissioned at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard on 1 November 1945. NavSource's commanding-officer list for CL-12 does not name him. DANFS does not name him either.
Uboat.net and Find a Grave both give his birth as 18 September 1899. Find a Grave memorial 46606434 places the birth in Denver, Colorado. The memorial styles him CPT.
Uboat.net lists him as a commander from 1 July 1940 and a temporary captain from 20 June 1942. The only earlier command on that page is the oiler Cuyama (AO-3), as commander, from a start the table prints as "1941 ?" to 21 May 1943. The page says it has no career information. No Academy sketch was fetched. An NHHC modern-biography URL under his name returned no file.
The Marblehead line begins 19 January 1945, after the southern France operation, and the table leaves the end blank. DANFS has her, in that last year, on a summer training cruise for Naval Academy midshipmen and then in the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard. Nothing on the fetched pages puts him in an action. Uboat.net lists no events under his name.
Find a Grave gives his death as 6 November 1983, aged 84, at Bradenton, Manatee County, Florida, and burial at Fogartyville Cemetery there. Uboat.net gives the death only as November 1983. The memorial says he is buried in a family plot with Mae (Fielding) Coloney, Viole H. Coloney, Myron H. Coloney, and Margaret R. Coloney, and does not state how they were related. No later rank than captain is in the pages fetched.
