Robert John Shaw had HMS Dragon from 27 August 1940 until 25 May 1942. He brought her from the South Atlantic to the East Indies in the autumn of 1941 and had her under ABDA command through the fall of Singapore and Java.

Uboat.net gives his birth as 10 February 1900 and his death as August 1995, with no day and no place. The day is not stored.

The rank line runs from acting sub-lieutenant on 15 March 1918 to captain. He is a captain on the ship list.

The naval-history.net chronology for his last year in her is the November passage to Singapore, the ABDA convoys, the Western Striking Force, and Eastern Fleet Force B at the time of the April 1942 carrier raid on Ceylon. He left her on 25 May, while she was still in the Indian Ocean and about to be sent home.

Uboat.net dates his death only to August 1995. No appointment after Dragon was on the fetched page.
