Rowland Clifford Lawver had the light cruiser Reno (CL-96) from 11 April 1946 until she was decommissioned on 4 November 1946. NavSource lists him as a captain, class of 1930. That, and the dates on his grave, are what was fetched.

Find a Grave gives his birth as 15 September 1906 and his death as 28 March 2002, aged 95. The memorial gives no birthplace and no death place.

NavSource prints the class of 1930 beside his name. No Lucky Bag and no register entry were fetched.

He was not her wartime captain. Captain Merle Alexander Sawyer had her from 23 May 1945. Lawver relieved him on 11 April 1946. DANFS says that early in 1946 she steamed for Port Angeles, Washington, and was decommissioned there on 4 November 1946, which is the last day of his command on the NavSource list. She then lay at Bremerton. DANFS does not name him.

The list ends with the decommissioning and names no next captain. Find a Grave buries him at Riverside National Cemetery, Riverside, California, plot 55 0 2302, and styles him captain. It gives no later commands.
