Shinshiro Soma was a captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy who commanded the light cruiser Oi from 24 December 1942 to 23 July 1943.

The sources used here do not record his date or place of birth or anything about his family.

He graduated from the Naval Academy at Etajima in its 42th class, and before this command he had been captain of the submarine tender Taigei.

He took command at Kure on 24 December 1942. In January and February 1943 Oi and Kitakami carried the Army's 20th and 41st Divisions from Pusan and Tsingtao toward Wewak in New Guinea. In May she went to the Netherlands East Indies, where she landed troops at Ambon and stood guard at Surabaya. On 23 June she was bombed at Makassar with three other cruisers and was only slightly damaged. He was relieved on 23 July 1943.

He went on to command the target ship Settsu and was later promoted rear admiral.
