Tamekiyo Oda was a captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy who commanded the training cruiser Katori from 15 October 1943 to 17 February 1944. He was killed when she was sunk.

The sources used here do not record his date or place of birth or anything about his family.

He graduated from the Naval Academy at Etajima in its 43th class, and before this command he had been captain of the submarine tender Chogei.

He took command at Truk on 15 October 1943. On 15 February 1944 Katori was moved to the General Escort Command, and at 0430 on the 17th she sailed to escort the auxiliary cruiser Akagi Maru to Yokosuka. The first strikes of Operation Hailstone caught them. Carrier aircraft sank Akagi Maru and torpedoed and strafed Katori. About 1300, forty miles northwest of Truk, Admiral Spruance's battleships and cruisers came on her. She fired torpedoes back. Iowa straddled her with eight salvos, and after eleven minutes under fire she sank stern first. A group of survivors was seen in the water; none were picked up. He was killed.

He was promoted rear admiral on the day of his death.
