Toshimichi Ohara was a captain in the Imperial Japanese Navy who commanded the light cruiser Sakawa from November 1944 to 1946.

The sources used here do not record his date or place of birth or anything about his family.

He graduated from the Naval Academy at Etajima in its 49th class, and before this command he had been commander of Destroyer Division 19.

On 25 September 1944 he was named chief equipping officer of Sakawa, then building at Sasebo, and he became her captain when she was completed, on 30 November 1944 by the Tabular Record and from 10 November by the Japanese list. She was the last cruiser Japan completed. In 1945 she was flagship of Destroyer Squadron 11, training new destroyers in the Inland Sea. In April she was to have sailed with Yamato toward Okinawa, but there was no fuel for her. She spent the last months of the war at Maizuru and survived. After the surrender she carried repatriated soldiers home, and the Japanese list carries his command to 11 February 1946.

In March 1946 an American crew took her to Bikini, where she was sunk in the first atomic test in July 1946.
