Arunta
U.S. Navy photo 80-G-57605. HMAS Arunta (I30) coming alongside USS Nicholas (DD-449) in July 1943, after the Battle of Kula Gulf. Photographed from Nicholas. Public domain.

HMAS Arunta (I30) was a Tribal-class destroyer of the Royal Australian Navy. She was built at Cockatoo Island. James C. Morrow was her captain from 30 March 1942. That year she began service in the Pacific.

Her Pacific service included the Leyte campaign. The fighting recorded for her in that campaign is the Battle of Surigao Strait. On 25 October 1944, at Surigao Strait, Arunta was on the right flank.

She survived the war. In 1956 the destroyer was paid off. A later ship of the Royal Australian Navy has carried the name Arunta.
