Swiftsure
The Royal Navy cruiser HMS Swiftsure (08), entering Victoria Harbour, Hong Kong, through North Point on 30 August 1945. Public domain.

HMS Swiftsure, pennant number 08, was a light cruiser of the Royal Navy. In the fleet she was known by that name and that number.

Captain Patrick Vivian McLaughlin was her captain from 4 February 1945. His command of the ship dates from that day.

On 1 April 1945, HMS Swiftsure was at Okinawa with Task Force 57. The force and the place are the battle given for her.

She was with Task Force 57 on that April day at Okinawa, and she was not sunk. The ship came through the day afloat. She survived the war. The hull was not lost, and Swiftsure outlasted the fighting.

Her story in these years is a Royal Navy light cruiser of pennant 08, with Captain Patrick Vivian McLaughlin in command from 4 February 1945, present with Task Force 57 at Okinawa on 1 April 1945, and still afloat when the war ended.
