Asashimo was a Yugumo-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Fujinagata Shipyards built her. She was launched on 18 July 1943 and commissioned on 27 November 1943. Nisaburo Maekawa was appointed her captain on 27 November 1943, the day she entered service.

Yoshiro Sugihara took command on 27 January 1944. He was still her captain on 7 April 1945, when she was lost. Her last operation was Ten-Go, during the Okinawa operation. She went with the Yamato force.

On 7 April 1945 engine trouble caused Asashimo to fall behind the Yamato force, and she dropped away from the main body. Aircraft sank her while she was apart from the others. The loss is not credited to one carrier.
