Fuyutsuki
Imperial Japanese Navy destroyer Fuyutsuki ( Akizuki -class) in May 1944. Public domain.

Fuyutsuki was a destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. In the spring of 1945 her station was in the screen of the battleship Yamato.

Hiroo Yamana became her captain on 1 March 1945. He was in command when she went to sea with Yamato the following month. On 1 April 1945, at Okinawa, Fuyutsuki was in Yamato's screen. She remained afloat.

On 7 April 1945 she was again in Yamato's screen, this time for Operation Ten-Go, on the way to Okinawa.

During that sortie she took Kasumi's survivors off and scuttled Kasumi. The men were removed first, and Fuyutsuki then sank the other destroyer. Fuyutsuki herself was not sunk on 7 April 1945. She survived the war.
