Harukaze was a Kamikaze-class destroyer, built at Maizuru. She was launched on 18 December 1922 and commissioned on 31 May 1923.

Keiji Koyo had her from 15 September 1941 to 30 September 1942. The characters of his name are 古要桂次. Perth first sighted her near St. Nicholas Point. Three of her men were killed and fifteen were injured, and she launched five torpedoes. The sinking of the cruisers is not credited to her.

She was still afloat at the surrender and was broken up in 1947.

The photograph shows hull number 5, with the name painted on the side.
