Harusame was a Shiratsuyu-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. Hiroshi Hirose became her captain on 15 December 1938.
Sutezo Tomita succeeded Hirose on 15 October 1940. On 24 January 1942, with Tomita in command, Harusame was with Naka at the Battle of Balikpapan. She did not meet the American destroyers there, and she was not sunk.
Masao Kamiyama took command on 25 April 1942. He was still her captain when she entered the night action of the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal.
On the night of 13 November 1942, the American destroyer Cushing first sighted Harusame and Yudachi ahead of Abe's battleships, at the start of the action. Harusame was ahead of those battleships that night. She was not sunk that night. Toshihiko Tomita became captain on 5 November 1943. He remained in command when the ship was lost.
Aircraft sank Harusame on 8 June 1944, northwest of Manokwari, New Guinea. The sinking is not credited to one plane.
