Hatsukari was a Chidori-class torpedo boat, built by Fujinagata at Osaka. She was laid down on 6 April 1933, launched on 19 December 1933, and completed on 15 July 1934.

Lieutenant Kusuo Nakao had her from 20 August 1941 to 5 October 1942. At Sunda Strait she was with Chidori in Torpedo Boat Division 21, with the landing force. What she fired that night is not recorded.

She surrendered at Hong Kong and was scrapped in 1948.

The photograph was taken at Shanghai on 18 August 1937. It is a halftone from the Office of Naval Intelligence. The label on the print names her.
