Hayashimo was a Yugumo-class destroyer, built at Maizuru, launched on 20 October 1943 and commissioned on 20 February 1944. She was a new ship when she went to Leyte.
On 25 October 1944 she was in Kurita's screen off Samar. She was not sunk in the fight with the escort carriers. She was damaged while the force retired.
The next day American aircraft finished her off Semirara Island. Not credited to one plane.
