Laid down, displacement, length, beam, draft, speed, and complement are not stored for each hull, so this table leaves them out.

I-16 was a Type C submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy. On 7 December 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, she launched a midget submarine off Oahu. The parent boat stayed offshore and did not enter the harbor.

The midget sent in from I-16 has not been matched to the boat sunk by USS Ward or the boat sunk by USS Monaghan. That identification is not pinned to her.

Her end came on 19 May 1944, northeast of Choiseul. USS England sank her with hedgehog attacks while sweeping in company with George and Raby. I-16 was lost with all hands. The crew went down with the submarine.
