TypeSubmarine (SS)
HullI-24
FateSunk. Type C submarine. Launched the midget that grounded on Oahu. She did not enter the harbor. PC-487 sank her on 11 June 1943, north-northeast of Shemya. Japanese records put that date on 1 June because of the date line.

Laid down, displacement, length, beam, draft, speed, and complement are not stored for each hull, so this table leaves them out.

A boat of this type, not a photograph of this hull
No photograph of I-24 was found. This is I-16, a Type C submarine of the same class, on trials in 1940. It is not this boat. Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons.

I-24 was a Type C submarine of the Imperial Japanese Navy. On 7 December 1941, during the Attack on Pearl Harbor, she launched a midget submarine off Oahu. The midget grounded, and the captain of that boat was captured. I-24 remained outside the harbor. PC-487 sank I-24 on 11 June 1943, north-northeast of Shemya.

Japanese records date the same loss to 1 June, the difference coming from the international date line. The sinking was the end of the hull.
