Kazagumo was a Yugumo-class destroyer of the Imperial Japanese Navy. The Uraga Dock Company built her, and she was launched on 26 September 1941. She was commissioned on 28 March 1942. Masayoshi Yoshida became her captain that same day. On 4 June 1942, at the Battle of Midway, Kazagumo was in the screen.

Kanematsu Hashimoto became captain on 14 September 1943. On 6 October 1943, at the Battle of Vella Lavella, she served in Ijuin's covering group.

From 25 March 1944 Shizuo Akazawa flew a division flag in Kazagumo and remained aboard in that capacity. On 8 June 1944 Kazagumo was torpedoed in Davao Gulf and sank. Akazawa was killed in her that day.
