Kuroshio was a destroyer of the Kagero class in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Fujinagata Shipyards built her. She was launched on 25 October 1938 and commissioned on 27 January 1940.

Shinchiro Maekawa became her captain on 15 November 1940. He remained in command until 10 September 1941, when Tamaki Ugaki succeeded him.

Ugaki was still captain when Kuroshio took part in the Battle of Tassafaronga on 30 November 1942. In that battle she was in the supply line.

Nagahide Sugitani took command on 23 February 1943. He was her captain through the last weeks of her service.

On 8 May 1943, during the New Georgia Campaign, Kuroshio was mined while leaving Vila, Kolombangara. The mining sank her.
