Nagatsuki
Shizuo Fukui. Nagatsuki in April 1927, the month she was completed. This is the ship, not a sister. Public domain.

Nagatsuki was a destroyer of the Mutsuki class in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Ishikawajima built her. She was launched on 6 October 1926 and commissioned on 30 April 1927.

Buichi Ashida was captain from 25 January 1940 until he was relieved on 1 September 1940. Kazuo Shibayama took command on 15 October 1940. Kanefumi Ninokata became captain on 15 April 1942. Tameo Furukawa succeeded him on 1 June 1943.

On 6 July 1943 Nagatsuki was with the second transport group in the Battle of Kula Gulf. One shell hit her, and she ran aground short of Vila. Satsuki could not pull her off. Allied aircraft destroyed the stranded ship later that same day.

The shell is unpinned to any one ship, and the aircraft that destroyed her are unpinned to any one plane. Nagatsuki was lost at Kula Gulf on 6 July 1943.
