Suzukaze

Fate	Sunk. Lightly damaged at Kula Gulf, 6 July 1943, and not sunk there. Sunk by an American submarine off Pohnpei in January 1944. The submarine has not been identified.
Armament (class)	Two twin mounts and one single mount, with two funnels.

Suzukaze was a destroyer of the Shiratsuyu class in the Imperial Japanese Navy. Masao Kamiyama was her captain from 16 September 1940. On 30 November 1942 she was in the Battle of Tassafaronga, the last ship in Tanaka's line.

She fought again at the Battle of Kula Gulf on 6 July 1943. There she served in Akiyama's support group with Niizuki and Tanikaze.

Suzukaze and Tanikaze launched the torpedoes that hit Helena. Those hits stay with the pair, and neither ship is singled out for them. Shells damaged Suzukaze lightly, and she got away from the battle still afloat.

In January 1944 an American submarine sank her off Pohnpei. The submarine that sank her has not been identified.
