Taimei Maru was a transport of the Imperial Japanese Navy, typed as an AP. She went in the Bismarck Sea convoy in that role.

The convoy met the Battle of the Bismarck Sea. The battle is dated 2 March 1943, and the result entered for Taimei Maru that day is sunk.

Allied aircraft carried out the attack that destroyed her. Her fate is a loss to those aircraft on 2–3 March 1943, in the Battle of the Bismarck Sea.

A strike dated 3 March 1943 records the blow as bombs from an aircraft listed only as unknown. That bombing sank Taimei Maru, and the sinking is left uncredited to any single plane.

The transport was lost with the action. Her hull went down in the Bismarck Sea, sunk by Allied aircraft across 2–3 March 1943.
