Adair served as an attack transport of the Windsor class, APA-91. Bethlehem built her at Sparrows Point. She was launched on 29 February 1944 and commissioned on 15 July 1944.
Lingayen Gulf was her first assault. On 11 and 12 January 1945 she was in the landings there, working as an attack transport in the gulf.
Okinawa followed in the spring. From 1 April through 5 April 1945 she was in that invasion, and her boats worked across the stretch of days. The gulf landing and the island landing were the same kind of work, months apart.
She was decommissioned on 30 April 1946. Two battle stars were awarded for Lingayen Gulf and Okinawa.
