USS Barton (DD-599) was a Benson-class destroyer of the United States Navy. D. H. Fox was her captain from 29 May 1942.

Barton fought in the Naval Battle of Guadalcanal. On the night of 13 November 1942 she was stationed in the rear of the American column.

In that night action two torpedoes struck her and broke the ship in two. The ship that fired them is not known.

Barton sank off Guadalcanal on 13 November 1942. The torpedoes that broke her in two were the blow that finished the destroyer. A later United States Navy destroyer carried the name Barton on a separate hull.
