Beckham (APA-133) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class. California Shipbuilding at Wilmington launched her on 14 October 1944, and the Navy commissioned her on 10 December 1944.

She was built to lift a landing force, with boats on the davits and cargo in the holds, and to send that load in under the guns of an invasion fleet. By early summer of 1945 her beach was on Okinawa.

On the afternoon of 24 June 1945 she came in off the Hagushi beachhead. Troops started over the side into the boats, and cargo followed them ashore.

The afternoon off Hagushi was the landing she made in the Okinawa fight. She survived the war. Decommissioning came on 25 April 1946. Two battle stars stand on her wartime record.
