USS Cummings (DD-365) was a Mahan-class destroyer of the United States Navy. She is known by that class, that type, and the hull number 365. On 7 December 1941 she was at Pearl Harbor. The attack on Pearl Harbor found her in the harbor. She was not sunk. Through the attack she remained afloat in the harbor.
The fate of the hull is survival. Cummings was at Pearl Harbor and was not sunk, and she survived the war.
The wartime account of this destroyer rests on that morning and that outcome: a Mahan-class ship present in Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941, still afloat when the attack had passed, and a survivor when the war ended.
