USS Dolphin (SS-169) was a submarine of the United States Navy. J. B. Griggs was her captain from 1 June 1932.

On 7 December 1941, during the attack on Pearl Harbor, Dolphin was in the harbor. She survived the attack there.

She also served in the Battle of Midway, on the patrol line west of the island. On 4 June 1942 she was one of twelve submarines posted on that line.

That western patrol line was her station for the battle, and she survived it. She finished the war as a school boat at New London.

The Navy decommissioned her on 12 October 1945 and struck her on 24 October 1945. On 26 August 1946 she was sold for scrap. A later submarine also carried the name Dolphin. That ship was a separate hull.
