Eastland (APA-163) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class. Oregon Shipbuilding at Portland launched her on 19 September 1944, and the Navy commissioned her on 26 October 1944.

Her landing ground in late March 1945 was Kerama Retto. The beach her boats were to use was the small island of Yakabi Shima.

On 26 March 1945 she entered Kerama Retto. Her troops went ashore on Yakabi Shima, and the landing met no opposition. She remained among those islands until 26 April.

Yakabi Shima was the beach she took, and the weeks she stayed in the Kerama islands followed that landing. She came through the war. On 15 April 1946 she was decommissioned. One battle star stands on her wartime record.
