USS Gregory (APD-3) was a United States Navy ship built by Fore River at Quincy. She was commissioned on 1 June 1918 as the Wickes-class destroyer DD-82.

That destroyer was later converted into a high-speed transport and redesignated APD-3, the form in which she served in the Pacific War. The later Gregory, DD-802, was a different hull.

On 7 August 1942 she took part in the landings on Guadalcanal and Tulagi as a high-speed transport. Harry Frederick Bauer was in command that day. At Tulagi she sent Marines ashore in the first assault waves.

The landing was the combat action recorded for her. Her part was to carry the assault troops in and put them on the beach with those opening waves.

On 5 September 1942 Gregory was sunk off Guadalcanal, and Little was sunk with her. The Japanese destroyers Yudachi, Hatsuyuki, and Murakumo sank the two ships. The loss is not credited to any one of them.
