USS Kimberly (DD-521) was a Fletcher-class destroyer of the United States Navy. She was launched on 4 February 1943 and commissioned on 22 May 1943.
Harry Smith was her captain from commissioning until 25 October 1944. James Dickson Whitfield took command that day. She survived the Second World War, and her American service also included the Korean War.
She spent twelve years laid up at Charleston, South Carolina, in the Atlantic Reserve Fleet. In July 1966 she went to Boston Naval Shipyard for an overhaul that prepared her for transfer to the Republic of China.
The loan took effect on 1 June 1967, when she passed to Taiwan. The Republic of China Navy commissioned her the same day as ROCS An Yang (DD-18).
In 1970 her number changed to DD-997, and in the mid-1980s it changed again to DDG-918. On 5 January 1976 she entered Naval Shipyard No. 1 for overhaul under the Liulong project. In Republic of China hands she carried the Wuyi fire-control and command system, air-search and fire-control radars, ARGO-681 intercept gear, and a hull sonar.
Her weapons comprised two single 5-inch guns, an OTO 76 mm gun, two twin Bofors 40 mm mounts, a Mark 10 Hedgehog, a CR-201 trainable chaff-rocket launcher, depth charges on rails, and two triple Mark 32 torpedo tubes, with a Hsiung Feng I launcher on the after superstructure. On 29 June 1981, at the same shipyard, the Fuyang project and the Wujin No. 1 project installed Hsiung Feng I and Haishu missiles and completed her conversion into a missile ship.
An Yang left the Republic of China Navy on 16 September 1999. On 14 October 2003, ROCS Hai Lung sank her as a target.
