USS Laws (DD-558) was a Fletcher-class destroyer of the United States Navy. She was launched on 22 April 1943 and commissioned on 18 November 1943, joining the fleet as a destroyer while the Second World War was still being fought.
Lester Orin Wood commanded her from the day of commissioning until 24 September 1945. Robert Edward Sinnott relieved him that day and served as her captain from then on.
Laws saw service through the Second World War and was still afloat when that war ended. In a later part of her career the Navy awarded her two service stars for Korean War duty.
John W. Young, who later became an astronaut and one of the twelve people to set foot on the Moon, was her fire-control officer until June 1953. His time in the ship included duty in the Korean Seas.
Cameras found her once more in the Kraft Suspense Theatre episode "Streetcar, do you Read Me?", where she appears briefly as position ship Alpha. The hull long outlasted that moment on screen. On 3 December 1973 she was sold to be broken up for scrap.
