Lubbock (APA-197) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class from the Kaiser yard at Vancouver. She was launched on 25 September 1944 and commissioned on 18 October 1944.

She was off the beaches at Iwo Jima on 19 February 1945. During the morning her boats went down, and the Marines embarked in her went onto the island. Nine days passed while she unloaded and brought casualties back aboard.

On 9 April 1945 she stood into the transport area at Hagushi with Japanese air raids overhead. Troops and cargo were clear of her in five days. On 14 April she got underway.

Lubbock came through both operations. Two battle stars were placed on her record, and on 14 December 1946 she was decommissioned.
