Marvin H. McIntyre (APA-129) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by California Shipbuilding at Wilmington. In that class she alone bears a personal name. The name honors Marvin H. McIntyre, who had served as secretary to President Franklin D. Roosevelt and died in office in 1943.
Work on the hull began under the name Arlington, and the Navy renamed her before that name could stand. She was commissioned on 28 November 1944 and went out as an attack transport for the Pacific landings.
Off Okinawa on 1 April 1945 she put passengers and cargo ashore for the opening of the attack. She remained through 5 April. Wounded Marines were aboard when she sailed for Saipan.
That April landing was her assault work. She came through the war. On 6 June 1946 the Navy decommissioned her. One battle star stands on her wartime record.
