Menard (APA-201) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by Kaiser at Vancouver. She was launched on 11 October 1944 and commissioned on 31 October 1944.

Her business was the short, crowded run from a transport's side to an invasion beach, made in the boats she carried herself.

Early on 1 April 1945 she drew in toward the Okinawa shore. Assault troops filled those boats for the trip in to the beaches.

Menard survived the war. One battle star was credited to her.
