Missoula (APA-211) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by Permanente Metals at Richmond. The Harmonettes, a female vocal group, sponsored her. She was launched on 6 September 1944.

On 27 January 1945 she left Pearl Harbor on the cruise for the Iwo Jima invasion. The ship staged at Saipan before the assault.

With units of the 5th Marine Division on board, she lay some 3,000 yards out from the beach and sent their troops and cargo in while the Marines made the assault ashore.

Missoula survived the war. Two battle stars were credited to her, and she was decommissioned on 13 September 1946.
