USS Mugford (DD-389) was a Bagley-class destroyer of the United States Navy. On 7 December 1941 she was in Pearl Harbor during the attack on the harbor. That day places her among the ships present when the attack came.

She remained afloat. The attack left her still a ship in the harbor, her hull intact at the end of the day.

She survived the war. The same hull that had been in Pearl Harbor on 7 December 1941 was still in existence when the war ended.

Her public history rests on those facts: a Bagley-class destroyer, in the harbor on the day of the attack, afloat afterward, and a survivor of the war.
