Okanogan (APA-220) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by Permanente Metals at Richmond. She was launched on 26 October 1944 and commissioned on 3 December 1944.

She reached Okinawa on 17 April 1945. About 740 Army assault troops were in her as reinforcements, and she stayed five days.

When she sailed, the passage to Saipan took 160 battle casualties with her.

One battle star marked her wartime record. She served again in Korea and Vietnam.
