Pickaway (APA-222) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class built by Permanente Metals at Richmond. She was launched on 5 November 1944 and commissioned on 12 December 1944.

On 14 March 1945 she arrived at Iwo Jima to lift Marines who were winding up the battle. The 24th Marine Regiment came aboard.

On 20 March she put to sea. Pearl Harbor received her on 5 April.

One battle star marks her Pacific war. She served again after 1950.
