Pitt (APA-223) served as an attack transport of the Haskell class. Permanente Metals at Richmond built her. She was launched on 10 November 1944 and commissioned on 11 December 1944.

Army troops transferred aboard from Samuel Chase (APA-26) after that attack transport was damaged. Pitt made for Kerama Retto, and the soldiers she carried cleared Zamami Shima.

She next served as receiving ship for the naval base there. Several hundred men who had lived through suicide attacks were cared for in her. On 6 April 1945 one suicide plane went down under her guns.

Pitt survived the war. One battle star was entered for her.
