A boat of this type, not a photograph of this hull
No photograph of PT-327. This is a U.S. Navy PT boat patrolling off New Guinea in 1943, the same kind of boat. It is not this hull. Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons.

USS PT-327 was a motor torpedo boat of the United States Navy, a PT boat of the small, fast type built for night work in confined waters.

On the night of 24-25 October 1944 she was on patrol in Surigao Strait. Thirty-nine motor torpedo boats held that patrol, and PT-327 was one of them.

The watch ran through the dark hours that joined the 24th to the 25th. Her station was with the other boats in the strait, part of the motor torpedo boat patrol spread across that water.

That patrol was her part in the Battle of Surigao Strait, fought on 25 October 1944. The battle places her with the motor torpedo boats on station in the strait through the night.

PT-327 enters the battle as one of those thirty-nine boats. Her service in the fight is the Surigao Strait patrol of 24-25 October 1944, under the battle dated the 25th.
