A boat of this type, not a photograph of this hull
No photograph of PT-68. This is a U.S. Navy PT boat patrolling off New Guinea in 1943, the same kind of boat. It is not this hull. Public domain, via Wikimedia Commons.

USS PT-68 was a motor torpedo boat of the United States Navy. She comes into the Battle of the Bismarck Sea, dated 2 March 1943, when an Allied attack fell on a convoy in that sea.

Aircraft carried the attack that sank the convoy. After the ships went down, the Bismarck Sea held their wrecks.

The motor torpedo boats came in after dark. PT-68 was among them, closing in once night lay over the water.

On the night of 3–4 March 1943 she attacked those wrecks. Her share of the battle was that after-dark run against what the aircraft had left of the convoy.
